Shams-i Khāmūsh: Persiska (Farsi) 1404

The seventh and most effective stab hits his neck, his neck is bent to the right. The dervishes wait for him to fall to the ground. Shams mutters the following hadith of the Prophet with his voice muffled: “Allah loves those who seek union with Allah.” One of the dervishes kicks him in the back. He falls face down on the stone floor, his lip is burst, his teeth have fallen out onto the ground. His black robe has turned maroon with blood. The dervish, who lifts his head by holding his hair, intends to separate Shams’ head from his body. The chief dervish prevents him. Let him take his last breath. Then throw him into the nearest well. Wrap him in his clothes. Wash the courtyard. We will set off in the morning. Shams has not yet taken his last breath. He slightly raises his head on the sille stone to the sky and says: “Allah is such a beautiful beloved. My Lord, I am in love with you. And I am giving you this life.” Mevlana enters, smells the handkerchief, opens it with a trembling hand. Inside was a note written on yellow paper: “I swear I wanted my death to be before your eyes. See what it means to die for love.” Mevlana fell down where he was and fainted. This is a tear that is born after the night and turns the deserts of hearts into heavens. Hearts that have become barren and deserts; open your hearts! Tears of love, coolly, in torrential downpours, are dripping on us; look at the sky, how love is raining down.
