Naqsh Barjastah'hā-yi Naw'yāftah-yi Sāsānī: Persiska (Farsi) 1403

The record of creating rock reliefs in ancient Iran dates back to the third millennium BC. The studies carried out on the relief rock motifs of Iran in the Sassanid period are mostly the result of the work of Western researchers. Due to the importance of the works of these researchers in better understanding of motifs, some of them have been translated into Persian. But so far, no complete and comprehensive work in Farsi introduces all the outstanding motifs of the period under discussion. Perhaps the reason for this was the accidental discovery of a significant number of these motifs in different years. This has caused some of these motifs not to be mentioned in some authored works that were related to these discoveries. The studies of Sassanid period reliefs were greatly boosted with the discovery of sixteen large and small reliefs from this period in Iran and outside Iran between 1950 and 2004. The remarkable discoveries of these 54 years were made while all the prominent motifs that were generally exposed had been examined and researched many times since the 17th century. These discoveries gave a new life to the study of Sassanid motifs, and many researchers once again examined these motifs. The book of newly discovered Sasanian reliefs has tried to investigate the discoveries of this period and properly introduce them.
