Our world is shaped by and derived from science. It can be said that almost all the benefits of modern life, from antibiotics to computers, from our understanding of human evolution to our ability to put satellites on Saturn, are all products of science. The philosophy of science seeks to unravel the knot of these conflicts and explain a clear picture of the realms of science.

جهان ما با علم شکل گرفته و از آن مشتق شده است. می توان گفت که تقریبا تمامی مزایای زندگی مدرن از آنتی بیوتیک ها گرفته تا رایانه ها، از فهم ما نسبت به سیر تکامل بشر گرفته تا توانایی مان در نشاندن ماهواره در سیاره زحل همگی محصول علمند. اما دانش قلمرویی نزاع آفرین است چرا که فارغ از مزایایش، تهدیدهایی جدی نیز برای بشریت به ارمغان آورده است. فلسفه علم در پی گشودن گره این تعارض ها و تبیین تصویری مشخص از قلمروهای علم است.
