Mahmoud Daulatabadi, born on August 10, 1319, is a prominent Iranian writer, playwright, and screenwriter. Daulatabadi was born in the village of Daulatabad, Sabzevar. After completing his education in the village, he went to Sabzevar and started working in various jobs. Dolatabadi then went to Mashhad where he got acquainted with cinema and theater. He moved to Tehran in 1338 and worked in Pars Theater a year later. Dolatabadi participated in drama classes from the beginning of the 1940s and became an actor. At the same time, he gradually turned to write. Daulatabadi got married in 1349. Daulatabadi's works have been translated into English, French, Italian, Norwegian, Swedish, Chinese, Kurdish, Arabic, Dutch, Hebrew, and German. The story of most of Daulatabadi's writings takes place in the villages of Khorasan and depicts the suffering and hardships of the villagers in eastern Iran.
