The story is about love with darkness. The narrator, who is a priest, is telling about surviving a blind girl; a little girl who was living in a little cottage with an old woman and after her death came to priest's house. The priest family's first manner was objectionable. But gradually they became friend with her. The days pass and after eye surgery the girl opened her eyes to the world. While the priest's family was waiting for her to come home from hospital, they heard that while she was picking flowers around the river she falls in the water and had survived her. After that, when the priest saw her, he heard a word from Christ by her: "If you were blind, you will not have any sin."

داستان بيانگر عشقي است توام با تيره روزي. راوي، كه پدر روحاني است از چگونگي نجات دختركي نابينا سخن مي گويد؛ دختركي گنگ كه پيش از اين با پيرزني در كلبه اي زندگي مي كرده پس از مرگ او، با پدر روحاني به منزل او آمده است. رفتار اوليه خانواده پدر روحاني، اعتراض گونه است. اما آنان به تدريج با دخترك خو مي گيرند. روزها مي گذرد و دختر در پي عمل جراحي، چشم به دنياي روشن مي گشايد. در حاليكه خانواده كشيش منتظر بازگشت او از بيمارستان هستند با خبر مي شوند كه او در حال چيدن گل در اطراف رودخانه در آب سقوط كرده و او را از مرگ نجات داده اند. پس از آن، وقتي كه پدر روحاني با دختر مواجه مي شود، اين سخن مسيح را از زبان او مي شنود: "چنانچه نابينا بوديد، هرگز گناهي نمي داشتيد."
