More than thirteen hundred years ago, the ancestors of the Sars, after their homeland was conquered by outsiders, chose to migrate and eventually settled in this new land.

Over the next thirteen centuries, they created a history and culture of their own, one that continued and transformed the traditions of their ancestral homeland.

Their history, however, was not marked by constant upheaval. The distinctive geography of their new country protected them from invasions by hostile peoples and from the devastating massacres that afflicted many other lands.

The Land of Sar is an imaginary realm, shaped in an idealistic imagination from elements of several different cultures, yet populated by events and characters that can be traced back to the real world.

This book is the first volume of a five-part novel and may be regarded as an introduction to the four volumes that follow.
