Aqvām-i Īrānī yā Millīyat-hā-yi Īrān: Yakpārchagī yā Tajziyah dar Bastar-i Qawmīyat yā Millīyat Persiska (Farsi) 2025

 The historical identity and the role of nationality and ethnicity in determining the present and future destiny of Iran are among the most challenging and controversial issues. These topics have often remained confined within the interpretations of particular groups, parties, or political factions, and in re-examining this profound socio-political reality, less attention has been given to the voices emerging from within society itself.

 The present work is a field-based and collaborative research project aimed at representing the identities of ethnic and national groups living in Iran through the perspectives and language of intellectuals and citizens belonging to these ethnic communities. By presenting a picture grounded in the views of ordinary members of ethnic groups regarding the nature of ethnic and national identity in Iran, the study critically examines the opportunities and threats inherent in the dual construction of “Iranian ethnic groups” or “nationalities of Iran,” and seeks to explain the prospects of territorial unity or fragmentation within the framework of their demands and challenges.
