The King’s Favorite Cookie is an anthology of very short humorous prose pieces by renowned writers from around the world. These texts cannot strictly be classified as short stories, nor can they be reduced to mere jokes or witticisms, since both of those literary and conversational forms have their own established histories and conventions—conventions that these “shorter stories” do not fully conform to.

In these pieces, there is neither a conventional plot nor a narrative knot that the author resolves at the end, nor is there an intention to deliver a brief punchline meant to provoke immediate laughter in a social setting. Although some of the texts occasionally touch upon the territory of short fiction or humor, they ultimately occupy a distinct literary space of their own—somewhere between narrative, satire, and playful reflection.
