Sālār al-Dawlah, Shāhzāde-yi Motevahham Persiska (Farsi) 1404

This is the first book dedicated to the study of Salar al-Dowleh, the rebellious prince, as until now only articles have focused on his life. Most of these articles concentrate on documents, specific time periods, or particular events, and rarely extend beyond the year 1913. A few short articles provide an overview of his entire life, but they are incomplete and occasionally inaccurate. This book seeks to present the most comprehensive possible account by examining all published and unpublished research and documents.

Salar al-Dowleh became a serial insurgent due to the social and political divisions that fragmented Iranian society and the inability of various political factions in Tehran to reconcile these divisions. In contrast, the reactionary forces were strong and formidable, primarily composed of conservative clerics, large landowners, and tribal chiefs—in short, the traditional elite—who would only be defeated if the Constitutional movement succeeded.
