Prayer for Rostam is a collection of six short stories, all of which are deeply concerned with the past. Even the final story, which appears to take place in a time beyond the present, derives its meaning through its relationship with what has already been lost and remembered.
The first story explores the ways in which human beings adapt to the age in which they live.
The second examines the innate fear people feel toward confronting the identity that their past imposes upon them.
The third reflects on the evocation of memory through material culture and physical objects.
The fourth is an attempt to describe the impact of catastrophe on the collective psyche.
The fifth presents the story of a woman and her relationship with the world she inhabits, whether real or imagined.
The sixth and final story turns to humanity’s inescapable desire to recover a world that has long since receded into memory, a world from which not even the faintest trace can any longer be found in everyday life.

نماز بر رستم مجموعهای متشکل از شش داستان کوتاه است. تمام داستانها محتوایی معطوف به گذشته دارند. حتی داستان آخر نیز که ظاهرا در زمانی بعد از دوران حاضر میگذرد، با نگاه به گذشته است که معنی پیدا میکند.
داستان اول سعی کرده تا نحوهی تطبیق انسان با زمانهاش را بسنجد.
داستان دوم سعی کرده تا نگاهی بیندازد به ترس ذاتی انسان از واکاوی هویتی که گذشتهاش به او میدهد.
داستان سوم به تداعی گذشته با واسطهی فرهنگ مادی میپردازد.
داستان چهارم، تلاشی برای توصیف تاثیر فجایع در روان عامه است.
داستان پنجم، شرح حال یک زن است و نسبت او با جهانی- واقعی یا غیرواقعی- که در آن زندگی میکند.
داستان ششم، به تلاش گریزناپذیر انسان برای بازیافتن جهانی میپردازد که مدتهاست به خاطرهها پیوسته و دیگر نمیتوان کوچکترین ردی از آن در زندگی یافت.
