شیب تاریک راه داستانِ یک هفته از زندگی نویسنده‌ای است که هم درگیر نوشتن رمانِ تازه‌ای است و هم درگیر رمانی که نوشته اما به گرفت و گیر چاپ و نشر افتاده و هم درگیر اثباث‌کشی و بالا رفتن اجاره خانه و گرانی‌هاست.
