Istanbul was really beautiful and calm until the evening of July 15. At least for me, who loved history and touched history in the castles and strong buildings of Istanbul, this city seemed so enchanting and beautiful. Just as I was mesmerized by the magic of Istanbul's sunshine that day, the coup had started and I found out about it at home through the Internet and didn't believe it was anything serious. Until I heard the sound of F-16 fighters above the house, I didn't believe that there was a coup, and these sounds were terrible. My house was somewhere near Topkapi, the historical heart of Istanbul, once founded by the conquering Ottoman sultans. Fighters were flying low overhead and Istanbul was shaking with the commotion. The sound of the fighters was terrible. Terrible in the true sense of the word.

استانبول تا عصر روز ۱۵ جولای واقعا زیبا و آرام بود. حداقل برای من که عاشق تاریخ بودم و در قلعه‌ها و بناهای استوار استانبول تاریخ را لمس می‌کردم این شهر تا این اندازه افسون کننده و زیبا به نظر می‌رسید. درست همان هنگام که من در جادوی آفتاب آن روز استانبول مسحور شده بودم، کودتا شروع شده بود و من در خانه از طریق اینترنت متوجه این موضوع شدم و باور نکردم چیز جدی‌ای باشد. تا وقتی که صدای جنگنده‌های اف ۱۶ را بالای سر خانه شنیدم، باور نمی‌کردم که کودتا شده است و این صداها وحشتناک بودند. خانه من جایی نزدیک به توپکاپی بود، قلب تاریخ استانبول که روزی سلاطین فاتح عثمانی آن را بنا نهادند. جنگنده‌ها با ارتفاع پایین از بالای سر خانه پرواز می‌کردند و استانبول از هیاهو می‌لرزید. صدای جنگنده‌ها وحشتناک بود. وحشتناک به معنی واقعی کلمه.
