The Anthropology of Religion book is written to provide an introductory text for undergraduate students as well as for anyone who wants to know something about this subject. This book combines the discussion of the origin and evolution of ideas and topics within the anthropology of religion and the path that the anthropology of religion is taking today, that is, the interests and occupations of contemporary practitioners. Wherever it has been possible to examine the relationship between anthropological topics and other fields, especially religious studies, this has been done. Although the order of the chapters of the book has been expanded on the desired concepts, each of the eight chapters of the book is independent and has its own bibliography, and can be read in any order. The appendix contains a list of ethnographic films and videos that can be used to illustrate or expand on the themes developed in the various chapters. The aim of each chapter is to introduce the main theoretical concepts in the anthropology of religion and clarify them with specific case studies. Connections have been established between the works of 19th and early 20th century scientists, i.e. the founding figures or "ancestors" of modern anthropology, and contemporary concepts and works.
