Dr. Mehdi Behzad is a lasting face of mathematics in the country and one of the pioneers in graph theory. He is one of the founders of the Iranian Mathematical Association and the first secretary of the Iranian Academy of Sciences, who taught at the Sharif University of Technology, Shahid Beheshti University of Michigan, and MIT. This book is a part of his valuable life, which is arranged in the oral history way. This book, like Kashkul Sheikh Baha'i, is full of points that were chosen based on their informativeness or to preserve parts of the history of mathematics in contemporary Iran. In this work, Dr. Behzad did not ignore his managerial and educational mistakes and sometimes he admits that what useful works have gone by the wayside and why.

دکتر مهدی بهزاد چهره ماندگار ریاضیات کشور و یکی از پیشگامان در نظریه گراف است. او از مؤسسان انجمن ریاضی ایران و نخستین دبیر فرهنگستان علوم ایران است که در دانشگاههای صنعتی شریف، شهید بهشتی میشیگان و ام آی تی تدریس کرده است. کتاب حاضر بخشی از زندگی ارزشمند وی است که به شیوه تاریخ شفاهی تنظیم شده است. این کتاب همچون کشکول شیخ بهایی پر است از نکاتی که بر مبنای آموزنده بودنشان و یا جهت حفظ گوشه هایی از تاریخ ریاضیات در ایران معاصر انتخاب شده اند. دکتر بهزاد در این اثر از خطاهای مدیریتی و آموزشی خود نیز چشم پوشی نکرده و گاهی اعتراف میکند که از خیر چه کارهای مفیدی گذشته است و چرا.
