On August 15, 2014, the life of twenty-one-year-old Nadia changed forever. ISIS forces massacred the people of the village where Nadia lived: the men were executed and the women were captured as sex slaves. Nadia's six brothers and shortly after, her mother was also killed and their bodies were thrown into mass graves. Nadia was brought to Mosul and, along with thousands of Yazidi girls, was put into ISIS's slave trade. Nadia and other girls were raped and beaten every day in this hell on earth. Nadia finally managed to escape from her captors and took refuge in the house of a Muslim family. The eldest child of this family risked his life to secretly take Nadia to a safe place.

در پانزدهم آگوست سال 2014، زندگی نادیای بیست و یک ساله برای همیشه تغییر کرد. نیروهای داعش، مردم روستای محل زندگی نادیا را به خاک و خون کشیدند: مردان اعدام شدند و زنان را به عنوان برده های جنسی به اسارت گرفتند. شش برادر نادیا و اندکی بعد، مادرش نیز کشته شدند و اجسادشان، در گورهایی دسته جمعی انداخته شد. نادیا به موصل آورده شد و به همراه هزاران دختر ایزدی، در تجارت برده فروشی داعش قرار گرفت. نادیا و سایر دختران، در این جهنم روی زمین، هر روز مورد تجاوز و ضرب و شتم قرار می گرفتند. نادیا درنهایت موفق شد که از دست اسیرکنندگان خود بگریزد و به خانه ی خانواده ای مسلمان پناه آورد. فرزند ارشد این خانواده، جان خود را به خطر انداخت تا نادیا را به شکلی مخفیانه به جایی امن برساند.
