فردوسی خود دهقان است و مأخذ داستان های شاهنامه نیز دل و دماغ دهقانان. سر و کار دهقانی چون او و دهقانانی چون راویان حماسه ی ملی ما هم با داستان های کهن و هم با درختستان سر بر کرده از خاک است. اصلا در تصورات اساطیری مشرق زمین انسان و بنابراین هرچه انسان آفریده است از درخت به عمل آمده است.
