Contemporary history of Azerbaijan has played 2 main roles in the changes of Iran in less than one century. 1st: manly movement of the people of Tabriz in the age of minor dictatorship of Mohammad Ali Shah, and 2nd: the movement of 1979,2,18 against Mohammad Reza Shah dictatorship, which both have had a wonderful effect on the process of contemporary history of Iran. Studying the events which led to the victory of the Islamic revolution, the movement of Feb18th was the first chain ring that connected the bloody movement of Jan 9th in Qom to the successive movement of Iran which led to the establishment of the Islamic Republic.

تاريخ معاصر آذربايجان در كمتر از يك قرن دو نقش عمده در تحولات ايران ايفا نموده است. اول، قيام مردانه مردم تبريز در دوره استبداد صغير و شكست محمد علي شاه، و دوم، قيام 29 بهمن 1356 عليه ديكتاتوري محمد رضا شاه، كه هر دو تأثير شگرفي در روند تاريخ معاصر ايران بر جاي نهاده است. در بررسي مسير حوادث منجر به پيروزي انقلاب اسلامي، قيام 29 بهمن تبريز، اولين حلقه زنجيره اي بود كه قيام خونين 19 دي ماه قم را به قيام هاي پي در پي ايران كه منجر به استقرار نظام جمهوري اسلامي شد، متصل نمود.
