Some historians have called Iran's constitutional revolution the "quiet revolution"; The revolution that grew out of the body of Iran's long-standing monarchy and like a vine wrapped around this body rooted its existence and identity with these intertwinings and gradually tied the masses to its chain like a strong but lost link of history; Certainly, a definitive judgment about which opening of the fatigue of history this revolution blossomed from and which slope it was sliding down is one of those unsolvable riddles of history; Today's researcher still doesn't know if this historical turning point can be called a revolution (in the true sense of the word) or if he should look for another word that is more familiar and tangible and more clearly reveals the secret of the Iranians' constitutional struggle. There are many questions about Iran's constitutional revolution and the changes it created; Among them, was Iran's constitutionalism a revolution that was inspired by historical support and emerged from the heart of deep-rooted silence, and was it a debt of historical memory? Or did it have an independent identity? Was this revolution led by the elites or the masses of the people or the clergy and the Shia authority?

انقلاب مشروطیت ایران را برخی از مورخان ، « انقلاب آرام » لقب داده‌اند ؛ انقلابی که از پیکره سلطنت دیرینه‌سال ایران روییده بود و همچون تاکی پیچیده بر این پیکره ، هستی و هویت خویش را با همین در هم تنیدن‌ها ، ریشه‌دار می‌کرد و کم‌کم توده‌ها را نیز همچون حلقه مستحکم اما گمشده‌ای از تاریخ ، به زنجیره خویش گره می‌زد ؛ قضاوت قطعی و بلاشک ، درباره این که این انقلاب از کدامین روزنه خستگی تاریخ شکفته بود و به کدام سراشیبی می‌لغزید، از آن دست معماهای حل ناشدنی تاریخ است ؛ محقق امروزی هنوز هم نمی‌داند آیا این نقطه عطف تاریخی را اساساً می‌توان انقلاب ( به معنای واقعی واژه ) نامید یا باید در پی واژه دیگری بود که آشناتر و ملموس‌تر باشد و روشن‌تر پرده از راز مبارزه مشروطه‌خواهانه ایرانیان را بردارد . درباره انقلاب مشروطه ایران و تحولاتی که از پی خود آفرید نیز پرسش‌های فراوانی مطرح است ؛ از جمله این که آیا مشروطیت ایران ، انقلابی بود که با الهام از پشتوانه‌ای تاریخی از دل سکوتی ریشه‌دار برآمده بود و دیگر سخن وامدار حافظه‌ای تاریخی بود ؟ و یا اینکه هویتی مستقل داشت ؟ آیا این انقلاب را نخبگان رهبری می‌کردند یا توده‌های مردم و یا روحانیت و مرجعیت شیعه ؟
