Owl of Minerva is a collection of essays written by philosophers belonging to different intellectual traditions, each of them defined or described philosophy and its preoccupations from their point of view and tried to shed light on philosophy. Philosophers such as Karl Popper, Gabriel Marcel, Paul Firaband, and Herbert Marcuse have contributed to this book. Also, the relatively long introduction written by the compilers of this book describes some of the approaches that have taken place in the history of Western thought towards philosophy and opens up the scope and limits of each.
