The book Political Rhetoric in Iran: Mechanisms of Persuasion in the Islamic Council begins with a brief overview of the position of the Islamic Council in Iran and the collection of useful studies that have been conducted so far on the internal mechanism of the Council. Also, this section clarifies a few specific terms that are common in the structure of the parliament for general audiences. Then the book enters rhetorical topics in its historical context. The historical course and development of rhetoric from the beginning and during different centuries to the present day and the importance of its place in the 21st century are explained. Since there are three situations of rhetorical analysis in a general category, i.e. political, legal, and ceremonial contexts, the author considers the common discourse in the legislature to be the best way to demonstrate political rhetorical analysis in Iran among other judicial and executive branches, each of which is appropriate for legal rhetorical analysis. And they are ceremonial, he knows. Therefore, indicators for the political rhetoric of this context have been defined and explained for the first time, and based on those indicators, a model for common and correct parliamentary rhetoric is presented in the parliament. Then, according to the importance of reasoning and sophistry in persuading the audience, the sophistical patterns of Iranian parliamentary rhetoric are extracted and introduced from the speeches made in the Islamic Council. In the next part, we will have a brief look from the perspective of critical discourse analysis on the mechanism of parliament speeches, so that finally, by adapting the results of these two types of analysis, we will reach the position of rhetorical analysis of the discourse that governs the political atmosphere and persuasion in the Islamic Council.
