He is currently a professor of philosophy at the University of Copenhagen and the University of Oxford. Dan Zahavi was born on November 6, 1967, in the city of Copenhagen, Denmark, in a Jewish family. He initially studied phenomenology at the University of Copenhagen and completed his Ph.D. in 1994 at the Husserl Center at the Catholic University of León, Belgium, under the supervision of Rudolf Bernt. In 1999, he defended the Danish version of his thesis at the University of Copenhagen. In 2002, at the age of 34, he became a professor and director of the Center for Research on Subjectivity at the University of Copenhagen. Also, in 2018, he was awarded a professorship in philosophy at the University of Oxford.
