The book is a dialogue about good and evil in the form of a dialogue between three philosophical characters created by the mind of John Perry. The book is prepared from the notes that these three fictional characters left next to the pages of Augustine's Confessions and an essay on human understanding. The same works that they have discussed in their conversations. John Perry (born 1943) is a professor emeritus at Stanford University and the author of important research articles on personal identity and the philosophy of language, and educational texts.

کتاب گفتگویی درباره ی خیر و شر در قالب گفتگویی است بین سه شخصیت اهل فلسفه که برساخته ی ذهن جان پری اند. کتاب از یادداشت هایی فراهم آمده که این سه شخصیت خیالی لابه لای صفحات اعترافات آگوستین و جستاری در خصوص فاهمه ی بشری جان لاک گذاشته بودند؛ همان آثاری که در گفتگوهایشان با هم درباره ی آنها بحث کرده اند. جان پری (متولد 1943) استاد بازنشسته ی دانشگاه استنفورد و صاحب مقاله های پژوهشی مهمی در هویت شخصی و در فلسفه ی زبان، و متون آموزشی است.
