A Portuguese novel. "Blindness" is a modern moral story and like ancient moral stories has moral messages inside. So its heroes are remembered by an adjective and not a name. Quoting a non-existent work at the beginning of the book named "Preachments", we are reminded that this novel is a preachment too. Preachment of observance and consideration. Evil white and horrible world in which the blinds of the story live in, is a monster of disorder and agitation which has no order of humane relations, and peoples' right is the most important case that is not seen in it. "Saramago" searches for a saviour Christian figure who instructs people kindness again. (winner of the Noble Prize 1998)

رمان پرتغالي. "كوري" يك حكايت اخلاقي مدرن است و مانند داستانهاي اخلاقي كهن، پيام هاي اخلاقي در خود نهفته دارد. به همين دليل است كه قهرمانانش نه به نام، بلكه با يك صفت ياد مي شوند، و در آغاز كتاب نيز با نقل قول از اثري ناموجود به نام كتاب "موعظه ها"، به ما يادآوري مي شود كه اين رمان يك موعظه است. موعظه رعايت كردن و مراعات. دنياي سراسر سفيدي پليد و وحشتباري كه كورشدگان داستان در آن به سر مي برند، هيولاي بي نظمي و آشفتگي است كه نظم روابط انساني بر آن حاكم نيست و در آن مهمترين چيزي كه انسانها نمي بينند، حقوق يكديگر است. "ساراماگو" چهره مسيحايي نجاتبخشي را جستجو مي كند كه دوباره درس محبت را به آدمها بياموزد. (برنده ي جايزه نوبل ١٩٩٨)
