در ميان پادشاهان قاجاريه، ناصرالدين شاه، تنها پادشاهى است كه روزنامه خاطراتش را به رشته ى تحرير در آورده و سنت خاطره نويسى را ارج نهاده است. براى كنكاش در موضوعات دوره ى قاجار و چند و چونِ قضايا، مطالعات اين روزنامه ها كه شخص ناصرالدين شاه با ذكر جزئيات به شرح وقايع آن پرداخته، كمك بزرگى براى پژوهشگران و علاقه مندان اين برهه تاريخى است. در اين كتاب كه وقايع آبان ١٢٥٥ ه.ش تا فروردين ١٢٥٦ ه.ش است ناصرالدين شاه با قلمى شيرين و جذّاب به روايت جشن صد ساله سلطنت قاجار، جنگ روس و عثمانى و شرح برخى از وقايع در دارالخلافه باهره طهران پرداخته است.
