The crusade movement in the 11th to 13th centuries is an important chapter in the history of Christianity, Western Europe and Eastern Mediterranean. The wars that the guardians of the West Church justified by referring to the scriptures and the politicians and knights of Europe "to escape from internal crises" represented and led it. This movement was formed on the basis of the idea of "dying for Christ", which was a beautiful idea for Christians. The wars that according to Edward Gibbon both sucked the wealth of Western Europe and took the lives of people who could establish friendly relations with the Islamic world.

جنبش صلیبی در قرن‌های یازده تا سیزده میلادی فصل مهمی از تاریخ مسیحیت، اروپای غربی و شرق دریای مدیترانه است. جنگ‌هایی که متولیان کلیسای مغرب‌زمین با استناد به متون مقدس ضرورت آن را توجیه و سیاستمداران و شوالیه‌های اروپا «برای فرار از بحران‌های داخلی» آن را نمایندگی و راهبری می‌کردند. این جنبش به پشتوانه‌ی ایده‌ی «مردن برای مسیح»، که برای مسیحیان تصوری زیبا بود، شکل گرفت. جنگ‌هایی که به تعبیر ادوارد گیبون هم ثروت اروپای غربی را مکید و هم جان انسان‌هایی را گرفت که می‌توانستند روابط دوستانه‌ای با دنیای اسلام برقرار سازند.
کتاب حاضر، که تألیفی درخور توجه به قلم تاریخدانی ایرانی، دکتر عبدالله ناصری طاهری (متولد ۱۳۳۹) است، جدال گفتمانی بین مورخان پیشین مسلمان، مسلمانان غیرمورخ و مورخان مسیحی معاصر این جنبش را بادقت و براساس منابع متعدد و معتبر واکاوی و تحلیل کرده است.
