The subject of the book is one of the most important problems of Iran reforming movement during its incline. Articles of the book are a deliberation to understand the theoretical concepts that were used by Khatami's movement for knowing him and others. In this book is talk about bad understanding of Marxism and heterodoxy of liberalism, false post-modernism is show and also the bad understanding of traditionalism which is usual in Iran. With unbelieving to concepts of tradition and modernity is mentioned to the experience of Western modernisms who based religion as their modernity and is emphasized on the belief that liberation and belief are not in contrast.

جنبش اصلاح طلبي ايران از مصائب بسياري در سراشيبي عمر خويش رنج برده كه يكي از آنها و شايد يكي از مهم ترين آنها موضوع اصلي كتاب حاضر است. مقالات اين كتاب تاملي براي بازيابي مفاهيم تئوريكي است كه معمولا" مورد استفاده ي جنبش دوم خرداد قرار مي گرفت. چه در شناخت خويش و چه در شناخت ديگران. در اين كتاب هم از بد فهمي ماركسيسم سخن رفته است و هم از كژتابي ليبراليسم. هم پست مدرنيسم دروغين نمايان شده و هم فهم ناروايي كه از سنت گرايي در ايران رايج است. در عين بي اعتقادي به مفاهيم التقاطي (جمع سنت و تجدد) به تجربه غربيان متجددي اشاره شده كه مذهب را مبناي تجدد خويش قرار داده اند و بر اين باور تاكيد شده كه آزادي و ايمان تضادي با هم ندارند.
