Alberto Mangel - Argentinian story writer, essay writer, editor, translator, and critic - was born in 1948. In his youth, he was fortunate enough to be with Borges, and Borges' influence on him can be seen in most of his texts. In the current book - whose title has a playful allusion to Walter Benjamin's famous essay, "Opening my library" - while briefly narrating the story of collecting his huge library and packing the books, as if seeing each book, he digs into A literary, historical, linguistic or theological reflection and, in addition to his "escapes", he delves into various texts, as Benjamin did more or less in that famous article.

آلبرتو مانگل ــ داستان‌‏نویس، جستارنویس، ویراستار، مترجم و منتقد آرژانتینی ــ زادۀ 1948 است. در نوجوانی بخت یارش بوده و با بورخس همنشین شده، و تأثیر بورخس بر او در اغلب متن‌‏هایش پیداست. مانگل در کتاب حاضر ــ که عنوانش تلمیحی بازیگوشانه دارد به نام مقالۀ مشهور والتر بنیامین، «گشودن کتابخانه‌‏ام» ــ ضمن روایت مختصر ماجرای جمع کردن کتابخانۀ عظیمش و بسته‏‌بندی کتاب‏‌ها، گویی با دیدن هر کتاب نقبی می‏‌زند به تأملی ادبی، تاریخی، زبان‏‌شناختی یا الهیاتی و، ضمن «گریز»هایش، در متن‏‌های گوناگون کنکاش می‏‌کند، چنان‌‏که بنیامین در آن مقالۀ مشهورش کمابیش چنین کرد.
