The events of this novel take place in the eastern Mediterranean, in the Arab lands. The subject of the novel is the attempt to live and expose the injustices that are being done to people. He believes that a covenant with so many signatures must be taken seriously and put into practice. Anyone who opposes it has stepped beyond the law and must be disgraced, like the child who disgraced the king.
