Perhaps when we talk about Saeed Nafisi, the first image that comes to our minds is books stacked up to the ceiling, a library that cannot breathe from the abundance of books, black lines between white papers, and a man with a cigarette in his mouth sitting at a table and leaning over one of those books. “Iran,” the homeland that was always and everywhere Nafisi’s only asset, also found its name on Nafisi’s tongue through these books and pages, and after proposing and choosing that name in the relevant council, he gave this name universal recognition in an article titled “From now on, everyone should know our country as Iran.” Nafisi was not only an outstanding scholar and writer, but also a poet and a man of taste. The eight essays in this book are eight exquisite and valuable accounts of Saeed Nafisi, his life, his times, and his services. To write this book, Peyman Talebi, in addition to reviewing over three hundred different sources, also consulted the survivors and family documents of Saeed Nafisi, sparing no effort to create a fresh, clean, reliable, and readable narrative. It is worth noting that many of the images that adorn the various chapters of this book are being published for the first time.
