The subject of this book is the life story of Cyrus the Achaemenid and the study of the origin of his name. In this article, after a brief description of the life of the first Achaemenid king and his humanitarian efforts, the author discusses the genealogy of the Achaemenids according to Herodotus, the narrative of the Bisotun inscription and the Cyrus cylinder, and attempts to identify the etymology of the name Cyrus using numerous sources.

موضوع این کتاب، شرح زندگی کوروش هخامنشی و مطالعه ریشة نام وی است. نگارنده در این نوشتار،‌ پس از شرح مختصری پیرامون زندگی نخستین پادشاه هخامنشی و اقدامات بشردوستانه وی، به تبارشناسی هخامنشیان بنا بر نوشته هرودوت، روایت کتیبه بیستون و استوانه کوروش می‌پردازد و می‌کوشد، با استفاده از منابع متعدد، نام کوروش را ریشه‌شناسی کند.
