The main character of the novel, Emmanuel, dreams of being a writer for as long as he can remember. He is diligently looking for his topic, his muse, his place in world literature, but he has a whole bunch of reasons that do not contribute to the creative process. At the moment when Emmy is almost no longer pained by his unfulfilled dream, he gets into a mysterious organization called "Union of Forgotten Writers", whose members are unknown writers - uninteresting once and forgotten now. The Emmanuelovs offer profitable cooperation. He agrees and suddenly realizes that everything is not so simple here. After all, where do forgotten writers get a lot of money from? Someone is calling him and he is silent. Some suspicious young men increasingly meet the hero on the street during walks.
A chess game starts with a pawn move. What is the main character's role? And how will this game of chess in Emmanuel's real life end?

Головний герой роману Еммануїл мріє бути письменником, скільки себе пам’ятає. Він завзято шукає свою тему, свою музу, своє місце у світовій літературі, однак має цілу купу причин, що не сприяють творчому процесу. У той момент, коли Еммі вже майже не болить його нездійсненна мрія, він потрапляє до загадкової організації під назвою «Спілка забутих письменників», членами якої є невідомі літератори — нецікаві колись і забуті тепер. Еммануїлові пропонують вигідну співпрацю. Він погоджується і раптом розуміє, що тут не все так просто. Адже звідки у забутих письменників великі гроші? Хтось телефонує йому і мовчить. Якісь підозрілі молодики все частіше зустрічаються героєві на вулиці під час прогулянок.
