Examining the history of addiction in Iran shows that there have been multiple approaches to it. In one period, addiction was considered a crime, and in another period, it became more prominent as a disease. The current book is derived from research that tries to look at addiction as an act and a social phenomenon with multiple dimensions from a new and sociological lens, and by observing the discourses in a period of Iran's history, i.e. the recent decades after 1357 Revolution, provide a discursive and critical narrative.

بررسی تاریخ اعتیاد در ایران نشان می دهد که رویکردهای متعدد و متکثری نسبت به آن وجود داشته است. در دوره ای اعتیاد جرم انگاشته می شد و در دوره ای دیگر سویه ی بیماری بودن آن پررنگتر شد. کتاب حاضر برگرفته از پژوهشی است که تلاش دارد از دریچه ای نو و البته جامعه شناسه به اعتیاد به مثابه کنش و پدیده ای اجتماعی با ابعادی متعدد و متکثر بنگرد، و با رصد گفتارها در برهه ای از تاریخ ایران، یعنی دهه های اخیر پس از انقلاب 1357، روایتی گفتمانی و انتقادی ارائه دهد.
