The role and presence of the clergy in the field of political development in contemporary Iran is important and effective in two periods; One is the period of the constitutionalism movement and the other is the period that began with the 15th Khordad Movement and reached its peak in the Islamic Revolution. The middle period of these two stages, which the documents of this collection are dedicated to introducing some aspects of, although it is not as important as the periods before and after it in terms of the role and influence of the political presence of the clergy, it is important to recognize it as the link between these two stages.

نقش و حضور روحانیت در عرصۀ تحوّلات سیاسی ایران معاصر در دو دوره مهّم و کارساز است؛ یکی دورۀ نهضت مشروطیت است و دیگری نیز دوره ای که از نهضت پانزدهم خرداد آغاز و در انقلاب اسلامی به نقطۀ اوج رسید. دورۀ میانی این دو مرحله که اسناد این مجموعه به معرفی جوانبی از آن اختصاص دارد، اگرچه از لحاظ نقش و تأثیر حضور سیاسی روحانیت به اهمیت ادوار قبل و بعد آن نیست، ولی شناخت آن به عنوان حلقۀ واسط این دو مرحله درخور اهمیت است.
