In the 1990s, Ana Falcon, along with her husband Lucho and their two young children, fled the economic and political conflicts of Peru to find a chance for a new life in New York. However, their illegal immigration has narrowed the field for them. Anna borrows money from a woman named Mama and has to work non-stop shifts in a factory to pay off her debts. Worse, they live in a room at Lucho's aunt's house and she clearly shows that she is not happy with their presence in her house, meanwhile Anna has to deal with the inappropriate requests of Mama's husband. With increasing pressures, Ana becomes more than she can hope for, while revisiting the painful memories of her childhood has worn her out, and in the meantime, she must resist Lucho's insistence to return to Peru. Ana is determined to stay in this new country, but what lines is she willing to cross to return to Peru? The story of the Falcon family is a beautiful time piece about a woman trying to build a new life and paints a vivid picture of the American immigrant experience. Melissa Rivero was born in Lima, Peru and grew up in Brooklyn. Rivero did not live in the United States for most of her childhood and became an American citizen in her early twenties. With his work, he has participated in the Middlebury Brad Loaf Writers' Conference and the Norman Miller Writers' Association. Rivero is a graduate of New York University and Brooklyn Law School and currently works at a startup. He still lives in Brooklyn with his wife, two sons and their guard dog.
