The term "Lacanian Left" does not refer to an existing unity or essence that underlies all diverse theoretical-political projects. In true Lacanian style, one might even say that the Lacanian left "doesn't exist!" This means that it does not impose itself on the theoretical-political field as a homogeneous and complete proof. In fact, its division is the best proof of its existence, because, as everyone knows, there is only one test that can show beyond any reasonable doubt whether such a field really exists or not, wherever there is left. There must be a division between the apparently "real" left and the "false" left, or between revolutionaries and reformers. This seems to be exactly true of the Lacanian left.

اتفاقاً، عبارت «چپ لکانی» به یک وحدت موجود یا جوهره اشاره نمی کند که زیربنای همه پروژه های نظری-سیاسی متنوع باشد. در سبک واقعی لکانی حتی می توان گفت که چپ لکانی «وجود ندارد!» به این معنی که خود را به عنوان یک اثبات شده همگن و کامل بر عرصه نظری - سیاسی تحمیل نمی کند. در حقیقت، تقسیم بندی آن بهترین دلیل بر ظهور آن است، زیرا همانطور که همه می دانند، فقط یک آزمایش وجود دارد که فراتر از هر شک منطقی - میتواند نشان دهد آیا چنین عرصه ای واقعا وجود دارد یا خیر هر جا که یک چپ وجود داشته باشد حتماً یک دسته بندی بین چپ به ظاهر «واقعی» و چپ «کاذب»، یا میان انقلابیون و اصلاح طلبان وجود دارد. به نظر میرسد این دقیقاً در مورد چپ لکانی صادق باشد.
