م يكن ليدور بخلدِ "ميمو" الفتى المشرّد أبداً أنه سيكون في النهاية سبب سعادةٍ للناس، كانت أقصى أحلامه أن ينتهي من عمله في تلميع أحذيتهم.. أولئك الناس. خيمة الأحلام كانت نفسها حلمًا، ومع أنّ الجميع كانوا يعرفون هذه الحقيقة، لكنّهم كانوا يزدادون إصرارًا على أن يراقبوا في مرآتها أحلامهم، والغريب.. أن الكثيرين كانوا يرون أحلامهم بالفعل فلا يزدادون إلاّ تعاسةً!.. كان يمكن للجميع أن يتوقّفوا عن تصديق هذه الأوهام طالما أنّ الرجل الذي كان يدفعهم دفعًا إلى غير ذلك هو "سيد الكوابيس"، فمنذ متى قدّم الطغاة للناس شيئًا سوى الأوهام؟!.
