Hossein Mohieddin Elahi Ghomshe'i, born in Tehran in December 1939, completed his education at Danesh Elementary School, Marvari High School, and the University of Tehran's Faculty of Theology and Islamic Studies. He also received seminary and traditional training from his father, Professor Mehdi Elahi Ghomshe'i, and others. He taught at the University of Tehran and other higher education institutions both in Iran and abroad, while also writing and translating works on mysticism, literature, and aesthetics. Briefly, he served as head of the National Library of Iran. His publications include selections and commentaries on Jalaluddin Balkhi's Fiyh Ma Fiyh and Attar's Mantiq al-Tair, a commentary on Sheikh Mahmoud Shabestari's Gulshan-e-Raz, essay collections, translations of Shakespeare's speeches and Khalil Gibran's The Prophet, a review of translated Islamic works in English, a corrected edition of Hafez's Diwan, selections from Alchemy, 365 Days of Aba Saadi, 365 Days with English Literature, 365 Days with Rumi (and subsequent volumes on other writers), an edited and foreworded edition of Omar Khayyam's Rubaiyat, selections from Shahnameh, and translations of the Dua of Kumail and Henry and Dyke's An Kheradmand.
