In a truly superb text, the author (who holds the chair of history and civilization of the Achaemenid world and the empire of Alexander at the Collège de France) writes a letter to Alexander the Great, divided into 7 chapters, corresponding to the 7 days of the week. He thus evokes the major events of Alexander's reign (days 1 to 5), but also informs the great conqueror of facts that he cannot know since they took place after his death (days 6 and 7), notably the fierce struggles around his remains.

کتاب نامه‌ی سرگشاده به اسکندر کبیر اثری تاریخی به قلم پی یر بریان، ایران‌شناس و مورخ برجسته‌ی فرانسوی است. بریان در این کتاب از طریق مرور زندگی اسکندر مقدونی، فاتحِ ایران در عصر هخامنشی، برهه‌ای پرآشوب از تاریخ سرزمین ما را نیز روایت نموده. گفتنی است که ترجمه‌ی اثر حاضر، در سال 1393، برنده‌ی جایزه‌ی کتاب سال ایران شد.
