With the arrival of Islam in the hearts and minds of mankind, women regained their true and human status; however, for some, the darkness of superstition was a gift left over from the era of ignorance. In the Wahhabi view, women are parasitic and second-hand creatures created to serve men and are inherently weak and mentally defective. Their presence in society results in nothing but deception and misguidance. In contrast, the Imamiyya discourse, citing verses from the Quran, considers piety as the only criterion for evaluation and believes that women can engage in social activities in addition to family responsibilities.

با ورود اسلام به قلب ها و اذهان بشر، جایگاه حقیقی و انسانی زن به او بازگشت؛ بااین‌حال تاریکی خرافات برای عده‌ای، موهبتی به یادگارمانده از دوران جاهلیت بود. در نگاه وهابیت، زن، موجودی طفیلی و دست‌دومی است که برای خدمت به مرد خلق شده و ذاتاً ضعیف و ناقص‌العقل است. حضور او در اجتماع، جز فریب و گمراهی نتیجه‌ای ندارد. در مقابل، گفتمان امامیه با استناد به آیات قرآن، تنها معیار ارزش‌گذاری را تقوا می‌داند و معتقد است زن می‌تواند در کنار مسئولیت های خانوادگی، به فعالیت‌های اجتماعی نیز بپردازد.
