The approach of the book is basically to the thoughts and ideals of women and it wants to understand and infer the relations between men and women and their struggles to gain civil, political and social rights. In exciting and at the same time sad passages, the book deals with the written and unwritten works of men who, especially from the beginning of the Renaissance era, have openly and shamelessly humiliated and blamed women and created hatred for her. The anti-feminists of the Old Testament, the distorted and confused traditions and interpretations of the Middle Ages, as well as the sayings and protests of many debaters and church fathers about women have been cited.

رویکرد کتاب اساسا به اندیشه ها و آرمان های زنان است و می خواهد به درک و استنباط قشر زنان از مناسبات میان زن و مرد و سیر مبارزاتی آنان برای کسب حقوق مدنی، سیاسی و اجتماعی بپردازد. کتاب در فرازهایی مهیج و درعین حال غم انگیز، به آثار مکتوب و غیرمکتوب مردانی می پردازد که مخصوصا از اوایل عصر رنسانس به بعد هرچه صریح و بی مهابا به تحقیر و ملامت زن و ایجاد تنفر از او پرداخته اند و در این رهگذر به انواع پنداره های زن ستیزانۀ عهد کهن، سنت ها و تعابیر کژ و آشفتۀ عهد وسطی و نیز اقوال و احتجاجات بسیاری از جدلیون و آباء کلیسائی دربارۀ زنان استناد جسته اند.
