Black consists of twenty-one short pieces in four sections. These pieces have concise prose and subtle humor and are a combination of personal memories and philosophical reflections about blackness. Black is unique among the compact books published by Alain Badiou in recent years because the text is not a seminar interview or a lecture, and is written with the intention of being read from the beginning.
