فصل هلي اول و دوم كتاب به بررسي دوره اول نخست وزيري مصدق تا ژوئيه 1952 و موضوع دعواي ناشي از ملي شدن صنعت نفت و نيز مبارزه سياسي داخلي. فصل هاي سوم و چهارم قيام سي تير 1331 و پيامدهاي آن را دنبال مي كند. فصل پنجم بر محور اقداماتي دور مي زند كه براي سازگاري ايران با يك اقتصاد بدون نفت و ساير اصلاحات اجتماعي ميانه رويانه به عمل آمده. در فصل ششم از سياست موازنه منفي مصدق صحبت مي كند. فصل هاي هفتم و هشتم تحليلي از پيدايش در آمد كودتاي 28 مرداد 1332 و پايان حكومت مصدق است. و آخرين فصل كتاب به بررسي دوران حكومت مصدق مي پردازد.
