"Aberrant, sickening, absurd, odious, grotesque, and above all, implausible! Yes, they are all these things: the judgments and anathemas, the decrees and sentences, the curses and fulminations that have been uttered since the dawn of time by our intellectual mentors, our religious leaders, our rulers, our doctors, our legislators, and their representatives in our homes, namely our fathers, our brothers, our husbands, and our sons. Seeing these quotations gathered together, all taken from famous works and eminent authors, one would swear they were the work of a band of bad jokers, dangerous lunatics, or sexual obsessives. It is hardly believable that, generation after generation, scholar after philosopher, historian after writer, man after man in short, the male half of the human race has striven to prove that the other half was worthless and did not deserve to attain the dignity of a human being.
