This book is dedicated to evaluating Richard Rorty's views on the Enlightenment movement and its ideals and foundations. Through ongoing discussions with many thinkers who defend or criticize the Enlightenment, Rorty puts forward a new approach to evaluating this movement. This approach is mainly based on a pragmatist perspective that attempts to separate the validity of Enlightenment values ​​from the validity of its philosophical and theoretical defenses. In his opinion, this approach can protect the basic values ​​of the Enlightenment - including freedom, equality and human solidarity - from the occasional tremors of broad and long philosophical systems. In addition, this approach can reveal the impact of narrative approaches on the development of human solidarity and highlight the undeniable role of figures outside the realm of philosophy, especially artists and novelists. In the second part of this study, we have tried to show that, despite Rorty's view, narrative and historical approaches are incapable of meeting some of the political and general demands of solidarity, and therefore the roles of theory cannot be completely reduced to narrative. We have tried to show by giving examples of demands that Rorty's "all or nothing" confrontation with some theoretical and philosophical approaches reduces the strength of his thought and in some cases is even incompatible with his pragmatism.
