"Carefully! Fragile" is sometimes written on cardboard boxes. Obviously, they do not write on those who are taken with them to the evacuation. Because they don't have time. And porcelain with a family history will most likely stay at home. But also in storage — memory storage — at the same time. Olena Huseinova started writing the book "Night Broadcast" in the first days of the full-scale invasion, in the first night shift of the 24-hour news broadcast on Ukrainian Radio. The language of these poems is functional: informative and magical. Charms and orders. Evacuation notice. And at the same time — a comment on the reality of time, which flows and flows. This book is put together like clockwork. Instead of arrows, there are hidden quotes and allegories. Each can be recognized. Don't stay "on the surface". It is twelve o'clock, and until then - we laugh and sing. Here is my throat. Night broadcast. White poems. War has its quirks. We laugh and sing. (Then we'll make a living out of it). Sounds like a plan. This book was written with the support of the Documenting Ukraine program of the Institute of Humanities in Vienna (IWM) and during the Tartu City of Literature residency in April-May 2023.
