کتاب «اخگری در خاکستر» رمانی نوشته ی «صبا طاهر» است که اولین بار در سال 2015 انتشار یافت. «لایا» از نیروهای بی رحمی که قوانین «امپراطوری نظامی» را اجرا می کنند، خسته شده است. اما صبر و تحمل او زمانی به پایان می رسد که نیروهای امپراطوری، برادرش را به جرم یاری رساندن به گروه مقاومت، به زندان می اندازند. «لایا» که هر طور شده می خواهد برادرش را نجات دهد، می پذیرد تا به عنوان یک برده به آموزشگاه نیروهای امپراطوری برود و برای گروه مقاومت جاسوسی کند. اما مأموریت «لایا» زمانی خطرناک تر می شود که یکی از مقام های امپراطوری به نام «اوگرز» اعلام می کند که برای اولین بار در طول قرن ها، چهار تن از فارغ التحصیلان جدید آموزشگاه، برای به دست آوردن تاج و تخت پادشاهی با هم رقابت خواهند کرد.
