1932. A comparative analysis of the nature of mysticism. This book attempts to penetrate the nature of the phenomena of mysticism by comparing the two principal classic types of Eastern and Western mystical experience. A sample of the contents is as follows: similarity in metaphysical speculation; the way of knowledge; creature and Maya; differentiation of mystical experiences in general, developed using Indian example; Gothic man; mysticism and ethics. Appendices contain discussion relative to Fichte, Schleiermacher, Kant, Luther, and others.

عرفان شرق و غرب، مقایسه ای تحلیلی درباره ی ماهیت عرفان به بزرگی قلم رودولف اوتو، یکی از دین پژوهان و عرفان پژوهان بزرگ دوران معاصر است. نوشته ی اوتو، تحقیقی مثال زدنی است که اولا الگوی مناسبی برای بررسی های مقایسه ای میان دین، فلسفه و عرفان در اختیار خواننده می گذارد. ثانیا فتح بابی برای گفتگویی سازنده میان اصحاب ادیان است. ثالثا خواننده را به درک عمیقی از حقیقت دین، عرفان، و معنویت، آن هم به زبانی قابل فهم در فضای دین پژوهی امروز، می رساند.
