A translation of the story “Barrier” written by “Pavel Vezhinov”. Summary of the “Barrier”: The composer Manev, who considers himself as a sensible man meets a strange girl named Doroteya. She says she has nowhere to go. He gives her shelter at his home for one night. Doroteya turns out to be mentally ill, and after Manev pays a visit to the asylum, where she is treating, he finds out what her problem actually is - she believes that she can fly. She is capable of going trough the barrier - leaving the real world and entering the fantasy one. Leaving the rational and walk through the mystical and unexplainable. The relationship between Manev and Doroteya soon grows into love and after some time, they fly together. The flying shakes Manev's world and he leaves Doroteya for a few days to make up his mind. When he comes back, he finds out that the girl was found dead, fallen from a very high spot, on a great distance from any building.
