In the civilized world, there are prisons for criminals, but there are no detention centers for politicians, opinion-makers, and conscientious people. In a world plagued by backwardness, tyrants, and the silence of the United Nations and the Security Council, there are disastrous prisons and hellish detention centers that represent a disgrace not only to their countries, but to the history of humanity as well. It would have been fitting for the clouds of poems in this collection to take shape as they wish, to rain when and where they wish, and to water the trees, meadows, and flowers as they wished. I mean, it would have been fitting for them to be crowned with the wings of freedom, not the shrines of Saydnaya Prison or any other such prison. In truth, one can be extremely free in what one writes, even while in prison, and especially while in prison. However, the limits of freedom to publish have their own issues, issues, and issues, especially in the countries of our contemporary East, ruled by what is completely unwise. I believe that my experience with metered poetry in this collection has reached its end, or its goal, whether I know it or not. I say "and I don't know" because I sense that when I play or compose my poems, I am not alone. There must be someone else sharing in the experience, from a place of "I don't know." - From the poet's introduction to the book
