In this novel, the school is a symbol of a society overshadowed by patriarchal violence. Therefore, the first-person point of view (the protagonist's narrator) tries to transform the narrative of the story from personal memory to collective and social events. The shadow of the father has no end. When the protagonist is under the shadow of his father, he dreams of a world free from patriarchy and violence, but it is as if such a world does not exist. He is condemned to remain under the shadow of his father, or to take on the role of a father. The time when the events of the novel take place is the middle of the last century. But the time when the narrator narrates the story, from childhood (under the shadow of his father, the teacher) to adulthood (who becomes the father, the teacher himself) is an arbitrary time sequence that expresses the fact that he is a being condemned to go through difficult events and developments in an inevitable time sequence whose end is the starting point.
